Ana will put Eden Forest on her second shelf!

My Review: Saskia is a parallel world to the one we know and Sarajane Anderson, raised as a mortal on earth, finds out that she’s not only part of this unique world but also destined to help save it. Taken to this world by force, she soon realizes that it’s her true home and that those who live there need her help to fight the evil destined to overtake it.

The author takes great care to build this world and describe both the characteristics of the environment and it’s inhabitants. I enjoyed the fact that I could picture Saskia and form an image in my mind of what it felt like to live there. As well, the characters are vivid, both the likable heroes and the villains who make you cringe.

Sarajane has a strong personality and is an independent girl. She’s dealing with her mother’s disappearance as best she can and refuses to give up hope. From the very beginning she has you feeling for her and cheering her on. The only challenge I had with Sarajane was that I felt she accepted her new role as the princess of Saskia a bit too easily. I didn’t feel enough doubt, confusion or disbelief from her as she learns all this information. However, her reaction to Saskia’s people and the adventure ahead of her was very believable. I really enjoyed Tristan. He was mysterious and rugged and the perfect love interest for Sarajane. The other secondary characters, including her father, mother and the evil Queen, are very well written as well and each has a definite place in the story.

Of course, I should also mention that the inhabitants of Saskia have elemental abilities. I really enjoyed watching Sarajane learn about them and also begin to experience her own. There was mystery and adventure with just the right amount of romance to make this book quite enjoyable. I found the end of the story a bit rushed but that might be just because I really wanted a few more pages of Sarajane and Tristan!! Overall, I think this is a very good beginning to the series and look forward to the next installment.
